Australia are likely to land in Pakistan with a near full-strength squad as Test incumbents look set to make the trip to the sub-continent.
Following a stellar Ashes summer on home soil, Justin Langer's side are set to turn their attention to the tour of Pakistan, which is scheduled to begin in early March.
The ongoing concerns of international travel and the prolonged domestic restrictions that have kept players away from families had raised questions as to whether Australia would have any key players opt to remain at home as opposed to heading abroad.
However, according toย Cricket.com.au, no Australian player has indicated their preference to remain in Australia following the white-ball series against Sri Lanka next month.
The unknown immediate future for the remainder of the 2021-22 Sheffield Shield has placed some difficulty on the selectors, who are yet to understand whether the season will be completed.
Australian selector George Bailey has revealed that the final squad to tour Pakistan is near completion, despite some queries over the Shield season.
"I believe the boards are still working through some of the minor details around that tour, so once that gets the formal tick of approval then we'll announce the squad post that, but we're reasonably well down the track," Bailey told media this week.
"Whether we need to (see any Shield cricket) or not, I'm not entirely sure what opportunity we will get.
"But the one thing that I think we have to be really just okay with is that we've got to accept what we get at the moment and be flexible.
"I think one of the great things and possibly one of the reasons the players performed so well in the Ashes was there were a number of players who got a good bank of Shield cricket in prior to that series.
"Whether it's for Pakistan or not, you'd certainly hope that there is an opportunity for some Shield cricket at some stage just because of the competition and to continue to see guys improving and getting the opportunity to show their wares."
Australia are set to rest paceman Jhye Richardson for the tour of Pakistan, while unused Ashes squad member Mitch Marsh is set to rejoin Langer's ranks for the series.
