India's cricket team were left fuming on-field against South Africa after a DRS review overturned an LBW decision on Day 4 in Cape Town.

With South Africa needing 212 runs for victory in the third and final Test against India - a series which is currently locked at one Test a piece - tensions were always going to run hot in a high stakes run chase.

The Proteas made a strong start to their chase and had advanced the score to 1 for 60 during the last session of the day's play before Dean Elgar was fired LBW to the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin by Marais Erasmus.

On initial look, the ball looked to be sliding onto the stumps, but Elgar was happy to use one of his team's reviews in an attempt to earn a reprieve, having taken a large stride down the wicket.

DRS then came back with the somewhat baffling ball tracking showing the ball going over the top of the stumps, much to the disbelief of the Indian players, who wasted no time in making their views known.

Umpire Erasmus himself was first picked up by the stump microphone as saying "That is impossible."

The Indian players then used the stump microphone to accuse South African broadcaster SuperSport of manipulating the DRS despite the fact the technology is run by an independent provider authorised by the ICC.

An unnamed player was heard laughing and saying "It's a joke," before another player made comment that "it was unreal."

Ravi Ashwin then walked from his bowling mark to the stump microphone at the bowler's end, saying "surely you can find better ways to win, SuperSport," before another player said "making the sport look bad now."

Captain Virat Kohli wasn't going to miss out either, walking to the stump microphone and delivering an apparent reference to Australia's ball-tampering scandal on the same ground in 2018.

โ€œFocus on your team while they shine the ball. Not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time," Kohli said.

South Africa will resume on the final day's play at 2 for 101 in pursuit of 212.
