Australia and New Zealand have played out a draw on a flat WACA pitch, but not before some final Mitchell Johnson fireworks.

Australia declared on 7-385 on day five, leaving New Zealand an improbable 321 for victory from a maximum of 48 overs.

Captain Steve Smith was dismissed early on day five for 138, while yesterday's other centurion, Adam Voges, was removed for 119.

Mitchell Johnson scored 29 in his last Test innings, hitting five boundaries in typical Johnson fashion.

New Zealand reached 2-104 when stumps were pulled, with Johnson taking both wickets for a near perfect send off from Test cricket.

Tom Latham was the first to go for 15 as he was caught in the deep after hitting a hook shot off a Johnson short ball.

The second wicket was vintage Johnson. He had Guptill leaping backwards from a typically dangerous short ball aimed at Guptill's rib cage, before he provided Joe Burns with a comfortable catch at short leg.

The 34-year-old was chaired off the ground as a teary eyed Johnson waved goodbye to Test cricket.

The third and final Test will begin on November 27, with Adelaide set to host the first ever day/night Test match. "(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,"\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
