World No.1 Rafael Nadal has beaten Australian youngster Nick Kyrgios in straight sets to claim the China Open in Beijing overnight.
Kyrgios let his emotions get the better of him in a fiery and often expletive riddled display, as he went down 6-2, 6-1.
After receiving an unfavorable line call in the opening game which hampered his focus, Kyrgios was unable to regain his composure, becoming engaged in heated debates with chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani on several occasions throughout the match.
“Congratulations to Rafa again and I'll be back,” Kyrgios said following the match.
“It's been an amazing week for me. First time in Beijing and to make the final is pretty good. I played some great tennis.
“It wasn't to be today. He played unbelievable, but he's one of the greatest of all time.”
Kyrgios, currently ranked No.19 in the world, has an opportunity for an important rankings boost ahead of the first Grand Slam of 2018 in January.
Due to a disappointing end to the season last year, the 22-year-old has no real rankings points to defend to finish off the calendar year meaning another impressive week in Shanghai next week could result on a important top-16 ranking.
