Andre Ayew has signed for Premier League rivals West Ham for a club record fee.

The Ghanaian has joined the Hammers on a three-year deal for £20.5m.

West Ham made big money moves for strikers all throughout the summer before finally landing Ayew, just seven days out from their opening game.

The 26-year-old made the move from Swansea to West Ham, after scoring 12 goals in 34 appearances last season.

Ayew spoke to the club's website shortly after his move, and was optimistic about the season ahead.

"I am very proud and happy to be at this magnificent club," Ayew said.

"I am happy to be playing for these fans and I hope to make the people very happy here.

"The club have a lot of ambition and they also have a great manager.

"They want to become a bigger club every year and with the new Stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving onto another level and I want to be part of this project."

Ayew is known for his versatility up forward, and will bring another element to an already exciting squad.
