Manchester City's potential punishment for an alleged nine-year stint of cheating has been revealed, with the Premier League set to hand down a multi-year point reduction on the club.

The punishment will be aimed at relegating City this season, while repeated point deductions in the years to come will be aimed at keeping them out of the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail in the UK, the league will also be looking to hand down an understandably large financial punishment to Manchester City as well.

City's owners have been accused of and charged with 114 financial fair play rule breaks and failure to cooperate charges by the Premier League.

It has been alleged that City knowingly broke the rules from the 2009-10 season through to the 2017-18 season. A period that netted the club three Premier League titles, three League Cups and one FA Cup.

Manchester City is appealing all 114 charges and has maintained its innocence from the outset.

City currently sit atop the Premier League table with seven wins from seven games.
