BEN Simmons has been praised after his stellar start to the college basketball season, with the Aussie being compared to NBA superstar LeBron James.

Appearing on ESPN Radio, college basketball analyst Jay Bilas heaped praise on the LSU freshman after his impressive performance against Kennesaw State on Tuesday.

“The last time I remember someone giving me that feeling on the floor was when LeBron was in his senior year of high school,” Bilas said.

“There was just something different about him, and you knew right away that this guy is the real thing.”

"I would take him No. 1 if they had the draft today. His game is NBA ready. He's a phenomenal passer.”

“I think he's the best player in the country.”

Bilas later appeared on ESPN's Pardon The Interruption, and continued his stellar review of Simmons.

“Ben Simmons is the best overall talent I've seen since LeBron James. This dude is different.”
