According to reports doing the round on the internet tonight, Sauber F1 team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn, has stepped down from the position she has held since 2010.

It is thought that the reason behind Kaltenborn's shock decision to leave the leave she has helped to build over the past seven seasons was that she could not see eye to eye with new bosses at Longbow Finance, who purchased the Hinwil based squad in 2016.

If reports can be believed, one of the sticking points was the team's two drivers with Longbow wanting Ericsson to be given preferential treatment over Pascal Wehrlien, something that Kaltenborn could not bring herself to agree to.

The team has yet to confirm the news.
