The German Grand Prix wasn't as satisfying for the Octo Pramac Racing team as they had hoped after their rider, Danilo Petrucci, started from a brilliant second on the grid.
Unfortunately Petrucci was unable to take advantage of his promising front-row start due to problems he was experiencing with the rear of the bike.
Danilo started well and managed to stay in the leading group for the opening laps, however he soon suffered with a lack of grip and started slowly dropping back through the field. On lap 9 the rider from Terni tried to defend himself against Andrea Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi's attack, but the problem with his rear wheel would not allow him to do so.
With the race pace dropping off,Danilo was left to fight as hard as he could just to stay in the top 10. After that he opted to secure as many points as possible for the championship rather than risk too much in the uncompetitive conditions. He eventually crossed the line in P12, loses 10 positions over the course of the 30 lap race.
“I am sorry about how things went,” he said. “If I have to be honest I had strange feelings from the warm up lap. During the race I struggled to keep the bike running because every left turn seemed to be over the limit. They passed me on the straight, which never happens to me, unfortunately the rear tyre did not allow me to express myself. I am sorry for the team, they did a great job, I am disappointed.”
