Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs, who was arrested on May 26 for multiple counts of alleged domestic abuse, is expected to make his first NFL appearance of the season against the Detroit Lions.

Jacobs was removed from the NFL's Commissioner Exempt List on October 19, despite the league continuing its investigation into Jacobs under the personal conduct policy.

The Green Bay running back spoke to reporters for the first time Thursday morning (AEDT) after being removed from the NFL commissioner's exempt list.

"I'm excited to be back with the team, with the guys," Jacobs said. "With that being said, I can't really get into a lot of things, like specifics of things, but obviously I'm remorseful and sorry for putting this team in this situation."

Following his arrest in May, Jacobs pleaded no contest to charges of battery and criminal property damage.

"Sometimes when you go through life, situations occur, and a four-second, three-second decision can alter your life honestly," Jacobs added. "With that being said, still a human being, man, still trying to learn, still trying to grow from the whole process."

Despite Jacobs' eligibility, Packers coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this week that he is unsure if his running back will play against Detroit.

"He's been training, but he's missed the exposure to football," LaFleur said. "I think people learn from their mistakes, and I think he's extremely remorseful, and I do believe that he is a good person."

The Packers have started the season well, winning four games from six, however, they have struggled in the ground game without the presence of their three-time Pro Bowl running back.

Jacobs has rushed for 1000+ yards in four of his seven competitive seasons in the league, making his potential return to the in-form Green Bay Packers a scary sight for the rest of the NFC.

Although unsure if he is going to "play or not," the former Las Vegas Raider remains determined to make a positive impact on the Packers' season.

If Jacobs does make his return against the Lions, it will be interesting to see how his return is received by fans and players alike.
