The UEFA Champions League (UCL) delivered again this week, with some blockbuster clashes and stunning results crowning two fantastic nights of action.

After last week's record-breaking 78 goals, another 74 hit the net in Matchday 3, shaping what is proving to be an incredible season of European football.
Here are five key talking points from this week's games.

Como destroy a woeful Manchester United

Cesc Fabregas and Como showed the world they mean business in the UCL this season, with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Man United.

A rain-soaked Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia stadium proved no problem for the young Como side, who displayed ruthless attacking play and dominated possession.

Argentine wonderkid Nico Paz stole the show for Como with two goals and an assist. Como now sits 9th on the UCL table after two wins from three, with United down in 21st and pressure mounting on manager Michael Carrick.

PSG suffers injury blows in a six-goal thriller

The most anticipated game of UCL Matchday 3 between PSG and FC Barcelona did not disappoint as the back-to-back European champions defeated the Spanish champions 4-2 at the Parc des Princes.

The clash between the two competition favourites saw PSG come away with a bittersweet victory after three star players were substituted due to injuries.

Both Ousmane Dembélé and club captain Marquinhos suffered right thigh injuries which will sit them out for weeks, while Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered an ACL injury which will put him out of action for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.

The result sees PSG sit top of the UCL table. And despite the injury setbacks, the reigning champions are looking to become the first team to three-peat since Real Madrid in 2018.

Bayern and Arsenal share the spoils in a stalemate

Another clash of titans in Matchday 3 saw Bayern Munich host Arsenal in a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena. A well-earned point for Arsenal did, however, snap its club record 14-game competition-winning streak.

Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 25th minute. They were then hit back by Bayern through Alphonso Davies ten minutes later.

Harry Kane slotted a 61st-minute penalty to put the Germans ahead before Declan Rice produced a stunning equaliser with ten minutes to go, leaving both the English and German champions with a point apiece.

Kane, who is next week's favourite for the Ballon d'Or, shone again for Bayern, scoring his 10th goal of the season while dropping deep to dictate play as he so often does for the German giants.

Real Madrid win again ahead of next week's El Clásico

Real Madrid continued its perfect start in the Champions League, with a ruthless 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

After a defiant first-half display, the Leipzig wall finally broke after Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for the UCL record holders in the 43rd minute. Arda Güler and Kylian Mbappé extended the gap to three in the second half, before Leipzig hit back through Tidiam Gomis in the 85th minute to make it 3-1.

The German resurgence, however, was short-lived as Yan Diomande scored against his former club to make it 4-1 just two minutes later. Diomande, who moved from Leipzig to Madrid in the summer transfer window, continued his rich vein of form; he has three goals and three assists in his last four games.

José Mourinho's Madrid, who will face FC Barcelona in El Clássico on Monday, will go into the game full of confidence, with four wins from their last four and Mbappé and Diomande firing on all cylinders.

Italian teams bounce back from last week's woes

After an embarrassing four defeats from four games in Matchday 2, Italian teams have bounced back in style for Matchday 3.

Como and Roma enjoyed fantastic performances this week, while Napoli and Inter Milan came away with narrow victories in a much-needed comeback for Italian football.

Italian teams have struggled in the UCL in recent years, with some calling for the Serie A to lose its fourth-place qualifying guarantee. Seeing all four teams come away with wins on Matchday 3 certainly poses encouraging signs for the remainder of the season.
