1. Adelaide United (1)
Adelaide United are in incredible form at the moment, and despite a horrible recent record in Melbourne, even managed to beat their old rivals. Kamau's 90th minute winner gave them their ninth win in their amazing run of 12 games without defeat. For five years Adelaide had gone winless in Melbourne, but such is their mid-season run, nothing looks beyond them right now. Although they weren't at their free flowing best, a win here was much more important than the performance given the recent results between the sides. Despite a horror start to the season, Adelaide could be top of the table by the close of round 21.
2. Perth Glory (3)
The Perth glory produced the performance of the week in their amazing 6-3 victory over the table-topping Brisbane Roar, winning their fifth straight in the process. Their current winning streak is a Glory A-League record and has them just one point out of the top six. This was an amazing game, with the scoring opening within five minutes. Eight more goals would follow, including five to the home side, with Diego Castro playing a huge role in most of the Glory raids forward. With Keogh back on board, and firing, and the aforementioned Castro lighting up the competition, this Glory side is now a real threat to ANY side on ANY day.
3. Melbourne City (4)
Melbourne City's performance against the Mariners on Sunday evening was truly a tale of two halves. Heading into the halftime break a goal behind to a side running a distant last, City fans could have been forgiven for being a little frustrated. The way their side reacted in the second half though showed their championship credentials. After a poor first half Aaron Mooy bossed the second stanza scoring twice and assisting a third. On a different day Bruno Fornaroli could have scored three or four goals having worked himself into some brilliant areas, but it just wasn't his day scoring wise. If City can continue on with their second half form, they're right in it.
4. Brisbane Roar (2)
Brisbane scored three goals away from home, yet left on the wrong end of a three-goal hiding in one of the strangest games of the season. They did manage to twice take the lead despite being a goal behind inside five minutes, but did given up that lead heading into half time. At 4-3 down, the Roar should have come out breathing fire, but they were a distant second to red hot Glory who banged in two further goals. Michael Theo will have nightmares at the score-line and you wouldn't imagine he'd be too friendly toward his defence on the long flight back. The Roar can take confidence that surely there won't be another game like this in the near future.
5. Western Sydney Wanderers (5)
The Wanderers will be happy to end their losing streak against cross-city rivals Sydney FC however will end 2015/16 without a derby victory unless they meet in the finals. The Wanderers goal, through Dario Vidisic was a thing of beauty, after the former Socceroo's bullet header rocketed home a brilliant Mark Bridge cross. Unfortunately for the red and black side of Sydney, from that point on they were second best. Although they had their chances late, there won't be too many Wanderers fans unhappy to escape with a point. Don't get me wrong, it was not all one way traffic, but if this were a boxing contest, FC would have taken it on points.
6. Sydney FC (7)
Sydney FC fans can be forgiven for feeling a little deflated to not consign their Sydney rivals to a third derby loss this season. FC started the game slowly but almost the second they fell behind, they seemed like a different side. Their goal did contain a touch of fortune however Matt Simon was unlucky not to hit the back of the net on numerous occasions. Given their form heading into the contest, a point would probably suffice, but on the day, Sydney FC regained bragging rights in their amazing rivalry with the Wanderers. The fixture list will become congested, this could be an instance of two points lost.
7. Melbourne Victory (6)
Earlier in the season the Victory seemed almost untouchable. After 20 rounds though, they are in very real danger of falling out of the top six, possibly as soon as this weekend. With only seven rounds to play, that's not a position a side this talented should be in. Their latest fixture, a one-nil loss to rivals Adelaide, will disappoint fans and players alike. To concede a 90th minute goal at home, will infuriate those same fans and players. The intimidation factor this side had earlier this season is well and truly gone, however the fact they sit in the six without playing well in seemingly months, shows just how dangerous this side can be. It will be an interesting seven weeks.
8. Newcastle Jets (8)
It looks like it will come well and truly too late, however the Jets late season revival will give fans plenty to be encouraged by. Two wins and a draw in the past three games won't see the Jets play finals football but it certainly has them well clear of local neighbours the Mariners. The Jets managed to come from behind twice, before scoring a winner in the 72nd minute. Morten Nordstrand's second half brace proved the difference as the Danish striker continued to prove an astute mid-season pick up. Despite it being a long shot, Newcastle's form over the past three weeks has them only six points outside finals positions.
9. Wellington Phoenix (9)
The Phoenix couldn't capitalise on their brilliant 5-2 win over the Wanderers a week prior, falling to the Jets. Early on it looked as though the Phoenix would pick up where they left off after twice going ahead in the first half, a lead they would hold until the 52nd minute. On the stat sheet, the Phoenix had more chances than their hosts, but lacked the venom in front of goal that a week earlier saw them destroy the Wanderers. Their finals chances look gone but following on from their ten year licence extension, there is a lot left to play for this season for the Phoenix. Having been given the green light for the next decade, staff can now start planning for the future.
10. Central Coast Mariners (10)
The Mariners would have been proud of their opening 45 minutes against City, even leading their highly fancied hosts by a goal to nil at halftime. After the halftime break though, their world feel apart. They were pinned back to one-all within minutes of the re-start, although the game seemed beyond them after Aaron Mooy's goal compacted the pain felt after Storm Roux's being carted off the field with a horrible leg injury. From there City ran riot and should have piled on the goals, while the Mariners were reduced to bit part players in the closing 20 minutes.
