1. Adelaide United (1)

Adelaide United have set themselves up with a genuine shot at winning the premier's plate, although their charge will depend on results elsewhere. A 2-0 victory away to Sydney FC means they need to beat Melbourne City on Friday Night, and rely on Brisbane not beating the Victory. Adelaide have been the form team in 2016, and are probably favourites, despite having to rely on the Victory to secure at least a point against the Roar. Adelaide are the perfect representation of hitting form at the right end of the season. They started horribly yet are favourites to win it all. Brilliant.

2. Perth Glory (2)

The Glory, following a brilliant 3-2 win over Melbourne City, now have a chance to finish as high as third. Considering where they were in December, that is almost unheard of. For 72 minutes the Glory looked like world beaters, running up a 3-0 scoreline at home to high scoring City, although two late conceded goals may take some of the polish off the performance, if not the result. Andy Keogh broke the record for goals in consecutive matches and has Glory fans wondering just how far they can go. The travel to out of sorts Sydney FC and an expected win would provide them a perfect platform come finals time.

3. Brisbane Roar (4)

The Roar may not be in red hot form right now, but they've done enough to enter the final round of fixtures in first place and with the premier's plate in their grasp. A come from behind 2-1 win against the Jets has them needing a win against the Victory to life the trophy. Anything less than a win opens up all sorts of possibilities, but three points ends the race. Broich scored the winner, which was amazingly his first goal of the campaign. He is looking like the Broich of old, which is key to the Roar competing for higher honours. Henrique continued his goal scoring form too. The Roar are playing well, but look like they have another gear in them.

4. Western Sydney Wanderers (5)

After giving up the lead of the competition last weekend, the Wanderers have put themselves back in with a shot to lift the premier's plate after a 4-1 win over the Central Coast. To lift the trophy they would need both Brisbane and Adelaide to lose over the weekend, although both of those sides do face fellow finals teams. Although they would have been expected to defeat the rock bottom Mariners, the way in which they won will have fans confident heading into the last round of competition. A win against the Phoenix could see them finish as high as first place, however a loss could see them slip to fifth. This is the definition of a ‘big game'.

5. Melbourne Victory (6)

The Victory have continued their mini revival of form after a second straight win. After defeating and knocking the Wanderers off the top of the table last week, they backed it up with a 4-1 away from home against the Phoenix. Despite having a horror run over the past two-or-so months, champion teams find form at the right end of the season, and that looks to be exactly the case for the A-League champions. They face the favourites to win the premier's plate in Brisbane Roar, and although even a win would likely still see them finish in sixth position, it would certainly send a big message that they are capable of going back to back.

6. Melbourne City (3)

I feel bad for dropping City so low after only one loss, but it is the loss that looks like it has cost them the premier's plate. For them to win their first piece of silverware they now need to beat Adelaide United and hope that both the Roar and Wanderers lose. Losing to the in-form Glory away from home is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about, however this match meant everything to City yet they were unable to get the win. A range of results are possible on the weekend however top spot looks gone. They could in fact slip to fifth is results do not go their way. Considering the season they have had, I'm sure they would have wanted more.

7. Newcastle Jets (7)

To their credit, the Newcastle Jets are giving every game their all, despite being well out of finals contention for a number of weeks now. For 64 or so minutes it looked as though they might cause a huge upset in Brisbane, however two late goals saw them walk away with nothing. Incredibly Nigel Boogaard was sent off for the second straight week, and meant this was the third week in a row that Newcastle finished a player down. An away derby win over the Mariners would be a positive conclusion to what has been a so-so season. They have massively improved on last season yet have missed the finals by a long way.

8. Wellington Phoenix (8)

The Phoenix may not have put the cue in the rack just yet, but they are not far off. Beaten 4-1 at home by the Victory, the end of the season can't come quickly enough for the Wellington boys. They were two-goals down to the defending premiers within 20 minutes, although Berisha's send-off on the half hour mark opened up a slight opportunity of a comeback. Although the Phoenix gave as good as they got for the most part, they lacked quality where it mattered. They host the Wanderers this weekend, although most eyes will be on the 2016/17 season.

9. Sydney FC (9)

Sydney FC are somewhat lucky they had such a solid first half of the season, as their form in 2016 has been nothing short of abysmal. It's worth reminding, again, that the last win for the Sky Blues was over the Wanderers in January. For a side who had genuine title hopes, that is simply nowhere near good enough. At times, Arnold's men look as though they haven't played together before, only managing five shots across 90 minutes, to Adelaide's 17. The sooner the A-League season is over for the FC fans, the better. Their focus is now on the Asian Champion's League, where they are in brilliant form.

10. Central Coast Mariners (10)

The Mariners have been playing for pride for many months now, but there isn't a lot left in the tank. Despite a Luis Garcia goal, the Mariners were never at the gates against a more committed and inspired Wanderers side, losing 4-1. There isn't much to be said about this game, but they can end their horror season on somewhat of a high with a home derby win over the Jets this weekend. Luis Garcia's cameo has been fun, but other than that there's not a whole lot to remember in season 2015/16 for the Central Coast.
