Barcelona failed to overturn a 4-0 first leg deficit, as they went down 5-1 on aggregate to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup Final.

Bibao shocked the La Liga Champions in the first leg winning 4-0, before drawing 1-1 with a ten man Barcelona to claim their first trophy in 31 years.

Lionel Messi gave Barca some hope, opening the scoring in the 43rd minute. However, any slight optimism was quickly dashed when defender Gerard Pique was shown a straight red for dissent just 10 into the second half.

Bilbao exploited the extra man and leveled the scores in the 74th minute through Aritz Aduriz.

Bilbao also ended the game with 10 ten, as Kike Sola was also shown a straight red in the 86th minute, for a late challenge on Javier Mascherano.
