The English cricket team were delayed on their arrival into Hobart on Monday evening as COVID caused cancelled flights and staff shortages at Sydney Airport.
While not directly impacting the playing group, families or staff members this time, COVID has infiltrated both Ashes camps, with up to seven English family members and staff testing positive, while Australian middle-order batsman Travis Head missed the Sydney Test after a positive test.
England were due to fly out of Sydney bound for Hobart where they will play a day-night Test to finish the Ashes series against Australia, however, were told to return to their hotel amid a delay on the ground in Sydney.
According to a Daily Telegraph report, the team would eventually arrive in Hobart at 6pm on Monday evening.
After managing to scrape together a draw in Sydney, England will be hoping conditions in Hobart - which often favour swing bowlers and could do so more this time around thanks to wild weather which has lashed the state - will allow them to take a victory for the series before they return home.
COVID restrictions ultimately meant this Test was moved to Hobart with the original schedule seeing it set to be hosted in Perth, however, tight border controls in Western Australia until February ended that plan.
England will have a handful of days to train in the conditions ahead of the match, which will be the first time the state of Tasmania has hosted an Ashes Test.
The match will get underway on Friday.
