Following Josh Inglis' sensational century on debut in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, we're revisiting every Australian who has achieved this milestone in cricket history.

Notably, Inglis' innings this week saw him reach his century in just 90 balls - the fastest Test debut hundred in Australian history and the second-fastest ever. He trailed only India's Shikar Dhawan, who reached the milestone in 85 balls.

He joins an exclusive group of just four other Australian batsmen to score 100 on Test debut this century, including Shaun Marsh (2011), Marcus North (2009), and Michael Clarke (2004).

The last time an Australian achieved this feat was a decade ago when Adam Voges scored 130 not out on debut against the West Indies. At 35, Voges was the oldest player in Test history at the time to register a century in his first match.

His test career lasted 18 months, which helped preserve Voges' remarkable batting average of 61.87 - the second-highest in Test history, behind only the legendary Don Bradman.

The first Australian - and the first cricketer ever - to score a century on Test debut was Charles Bannerman, who made 165 not out in the inaugural Test match against England in 1877.

Bannerman's innings accounted for 67.34% of Australia's total of 245, setting a record for the highest percentage of a team's total in Test cricket - a record that still stands today.

Despite his historic debut, he played just three more Test matches for Australia before injuries ended his playing career.

Building on the legacy Bannerman set in that historic first Test, here is the complete list of the 21 Australians to score a century on Test debut.
