Over 290,000 MotoGP fans have signed an online petition to have Valentino Rossi's penalty from his clash with Marc Marquez in the Malaysian Grand Prix overturned.

Rossi will start from the back of the grid in the final GP of the season, after appearing to knock Marquez off his bike on Sunday.

Nicholas David, from the United Kingdom, wrote the petition directed at MotoGP Race Director Mike Webb, FIM Officials, UFIM Officials and Lin Jarvis.

โ€œThe integrity of MotoGP is falling into disgrace,โ€ his petition begins.

โ€œYou have just condoned dirty racing tactics by punishing Valentino Rossi for pursuing the championship whilst being harassed and sabotaged by Marc Marquez."

It has now been translated into Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, French and Indonesian.
