Melbourne City have signed Corey Gameiro from Sydney FC.

The highly rated 22-year-old striker is the third arrival at Melbourne City this transfer window, joining Ivan Franjic and Steve Kuzmanovski.

Gameiro's 2014/15 season with the Sky Blues was cruelled by injury after a promising start to the year, in which he scored 12 goals in pre-season, followed by two goals in the opening five rounds.

The former Olyroo says that he is on track to return from the injury at the start of the new season.

“I'm ahead of schedule at the moment, so I am doing well,” Gameiro said. “The facilities here are excellent and I am very happy to be here at the club and continuing my rehabilitation in the Academy's fantastic gym.

“I believe the club is heading in the right direction, have the foundations right and have the potential now to achieve success and I want to be a part of it.”
