The home to this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, the Red Bull Ring located in the small town of Spielberg, will host its fourth running under the current guise and for the Williams team, the return of this venue in 2014 was a very memorable one indeed.
It was that race, that year, where Williams scored its only front-row lockout of the season in qualifying with Valtteri Bottas going on to claim his first ever Formula One podium.
Now, as the Grove based squad returns to Austria, they do so with their rookie driver, lance Stroll, coming off the back of a brilliant podium finish last time out in Baku.
Unlike Baku, this is a track the Canadian driver has experienced before, but that, as Baku proved, doesn't really mean too much in the end!
“Austria won't be a completely new experience for me, as this is the first track of the year where I have already raced,” he explained. “I just love that track. It is so cool and a place I have enjoyed racing. There are not that many corners but it has a great flow and it is easy to get a good rhythm”
“It is always great going back to a track where you have been successful, and that is definitely the case here as last year in Formula 3 I had two wins and a second! The area is very beautiful and it reminds me of back home in Canada – one of those northern tracks with pine trees.”
Williams has totalled three wins at the Austrian Grand Prix throughout its various track layouts and the current short, 4.326km circuit with its undulating features and impressive scenery was a popular return to the Formula One calendar back in 2014 and Williams will be hoping it yields very similar results.
