HaasF1 and their driver Romain Grosjean accused Lewis Hamilton of blocking in the third stage of qualifying at the Silverstone circuit in England on Saturday afternoon, referring the matter to the stewards of the course in the hope that Hamilton would be penalized.
However, the stewards decided that the pole sitter didn't have a case to answer to, but that didn't stop the complaints.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff certainly made his thoughts known about the situation, telling Grosjean to stop moaning and be thankful he is even in the sport!
“There are some that moan all the time,” Wolff commented. “They just continue moaning. I don't want to even comment. If Romain Grosjean comes out and starts asking for penalties for other drivers, you should rather look at his track record. He should be happy he is driving in F1.”
However, Haas don't see it the same way and have answered Wolff's comments by asking the question…'What would have happened if it was Grosjean blocking Hamilton's flying lap?'
According to Guenther Steiner, this is simply a case of two classes in the series, the title contenders, and the rest, and the penalties handed out need to be consistent across the board and not given on a political basis.
