How many skippers have won the America’s Cup on multiple occasions?

With its first race completed in 1851, the America's Cup is the oldest international competition still operating in global sports.

However, across this more than 170-year history, only five different Yacht Clubs, located in four different countries, have ever hoisted the iconic piece over silverware.

Here are the men who have skippered multiple crews across the line first.

Charlie Barr (Great Britain) - three series wins - 1899, 1901 and 1903

Harold Stirling Vanderbilt (United States of America) - three series wins - 1930, 1934 and 1937

Dennis Connor (United States of America) - three series wins - 1980, 1987 and 1988

Russell Couts (New Zealand) - three series wins - 1995, 2000 and 2003

Jimmy Spithill (Australia) - two series wins - 2010 and 2013
