Supercar veteran racer Craig Lowndes got the Perth Superspint off to a positive start at the Barbagello raceway today when his Team Vortex Holden was at the top of the leaderboard on a number of occasions, running the top hierarchy for most of the two forty five minute sessions.
Craig is no stranger to the Perth venue with 16 wins to his credit and he made sure that he let his rivals know that he was still a force to be reckoned with.
Craig finished the day's session sixth fastest after being the first of several drivers to break the practice lap record and his final time was still well below the record with a 55.27.
"It's been a good day!" Craig said. "We had two practice sessions, the first one wasn't too bad. We ran through some changes we wanted to make and simulated a qualifying run, which gave us a good balance and direction for practice two. That session was really good. Obviously we had much better tyres and we really focused on getting a good qualifying car.”
‘We did that, but I'd still like a little bit more of a change to get the car that little bit nicer on a green tyre. All in all we're really happy and really pleased with where we ended up. There's no doubt it's going to be a tough weekend on tyres, but it was a very positive day."
