New Haas driver, Kevin Magnussen, who was hard at work at the team's UK base last week, has spoken out about recent criticism from his former Renault team in regard to his performances during the 2016 Formula One season.
Magnussen was accused by Renault Sport managing director Cyril Abiteboul of disappointing the French based team with some very lacklustre performances that the Danish racer came up with various ‘excuses' to try and explain away.
According to the former Renault racer, the main reason for Abiteboul's complaints was simply because he made his opinion on various matters abundantly clear and it was not appreciated. Added to that the Dane is a firmly believer of keeping things private between the parties involved rather than spreading stories in the press….
"I think it's easy to say that someone is making excuses," Magnussen told Sky Sports. "I've said what I think and I've made my opinion clear about certain things and he was unhappy about it. It's fair enough, I can't stop him from being unhappy with me, but it became a very public matter which I regret a little bit.”
‘I prefer things to be, if you are unhappy about something keep it between the person you are unhappy with, which he didn't do. He didn't keep it between me and him, he went public with it, and that's his way of doing things. That's fair enough with me."
