Aussie young gun Nick Kyrgios says he does not want to run into Lleyton Hewitt at this year's Australian Open.

Kyrgios expects Hewitt to come out firing in his last Australian Open in front of what will no doubt be a vocal Melbourne crowd and warned any potential opponents to be wary of an inspired 34-year-old.

“I'm going to say it would be a very, very bad thing if I ran into Lleyton Hewitt at the Australian Open,” Kyrgios said.

“I want him to do extremely well – it's his last Aussie Open ever. But I think the crowd's going to be fully behind him whoever he plays. If he plays another Aussie, the whole crowd will be going for him.

“It's going to be dangerous for whoever does run into Lleyton. He's going to be playing some pretty inspired tennis.”

Kyrgios said Hewitt has been instrumental in his own development, with the pair working closely together in recent months.
