Goal keeper Adam Bogdan was the hero for Liverpool, saving three penalties as the Premier league side narrowly beat League Two side Carlisle United 3-2 on penalties in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Danny Ings gave the Reds the lead midway through the first half via a header, before Carlisle equalised shortly after through Derek Asamoah.

The score remained at 1-1 after full time and extra time, despite Liverpool controlling the play and having an incredible 47 shots on goal for the match.

Back up keeper Adam Bogdan then saved three penalties to end a five match winless streak for Liverpool and manager give Brendon Rogers a much needed win.

Liverpool now advance to the fourth round of the League Cup, where they will face Bournemouth.
