Matt Brabham, son of Geoff Brabham and grandson of Sir David Brabham accepted a last minute call from Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport to drive the #3 entry that was vacated by Taz Douglas.
Accepting the role without hesitation the 23 year old was eager to get behind the wheel of one of the fastest cars in Australia.
“When Phil (Munday) rang to see if I was interested it was obviously from way left field, but exciting at the same time. Phil has a track record of supporting young drivers in the sport,” Brabham explained.
Matty had never driven a Supercar before, however he wasn't daunted by the challenge in any way at all. Accompanied by LDM's major sponsor Repair Management Australia, the new comer to the Supercars championship had full support up and down the grid.
While he had never raced in the series before, he still knew a lot of people in pitlane and had even raced against a few in his time…
"Racing against some of the other guys before hand, it was great to get back behind the wheel and mix it with them again.”
Not only did Matty contest the Supercars weekend, he was also behind the wheel of one of the support categories, the Stadium Super Trucks, where he really put on a show.
