Melbourne City have finally announced the signing of veteran Danish goal keeper Thomas Sorensen, after weeks of speculation linking the former EPL keeper with the club.

Sorensen has signed a two-year deal with the Melbourne based club.

The 39-year-old has had stints with Sunderland, Aston Villa and Stoke City in the Premier League and has made 101 international appearances.

“We're very excited to welcome Thomas to Melbourne,” Coach John van 't Schip said.

“Having played all of his career at such an elite level, we are confident Thomas will approach his time at the club with great ambition and determination.

“We also believe he will be an incredibly important figure for the development of our younger players and will act as the very finest mentor for all the goalkeepers in the club.”
