Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is shaping up to be the undisputed 'King of Silverstone' after the three-time world champion won his home race for the fourth time in a row last Sunday. He also recorded the fifth grand slam (start-to-finish victory, pole position and fastest race lap) of his career.
This fifth victory on the circuit puts him on level pegging with the other two record winners of the British Grand Prix, Jim Clark and Alain Prost.
As early as qualifying, Lewis equalled a record set by British racing legend Clark, namely a fifth Silverstone pole.
It was also Hamilton's 67th F1 pole, just one short of the record set by former world champion Michael Schumacher.
But it wasn't just Lewis Hamilton enhancing his Formula 1 credentials at Silverstone with a fourth win of the campaign.
He and his teammate Valtteri Bottas also made it a second one-two victory for the team this season. The first came in the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
Furthermore, Hamilton's triumph in his home race was the 70th victory in the Formula 1 history of the Silver Arrows.
Hamilton had already confirmed the strong qualifying performance of the team this year on Saturday with his sixth pole of 2017.
In eight of the ten races so far, an F1 W08 EQ Power+ has started from pole position.
