New Newcastle Jets' coach Scott Miller says "the supporters are doing their part," as the team prepares for the upcoming A-League season.
The Jets were in disarray following a disastrous campaign last season with former owner and former billionaire Nathan Tinkler facing reported tax debts of almost $40 million, leaving the club in crisis.
However, things are now looking up for the Jets since Football Federation Australia took back control of the club and Scott Miller was installed as manager.
The former Fulham under-21s manager told ABC Radio on Tuesday that the support he has received from the fans has been outstanding.
“From the outset I wanted to create an environment where the community wanted to support the team,” Miller said.
“The supporters are doing their part so far and we've had a lot of people come down to training and watch the team over the weeks.
“That kind of engagement is great and the players have recognised they have a responsibility not just to their career but also to the club.”
Miller said that the team is training well and raring to go come round one of the season.
