NBA Draft lottery - What it means for your organisation ? - allsprt

The NBA draft lottery was conducted for the 2026 NBA draft, and this is the day some fans were waiting for all year round after their team potentially being out of the playoffs or through a trade. This article will go through what the pick means for your team and what they should do with that pick, whether it is to trade it or what player they should draft. Washington Wizards The Wizards were lucky enough to secure the number one overall pick after a promising year from their young core. In a loaded draft, expect the Wizards to go with the consensus number one overall pick, AJ Dybantsa and add him to the young core of lottery picks around him. Dybantsa will be expected to be the future face of the franchise, and with the Wizards' recent acquisitions of Trae Young and Anthony Davis, they will be expected to compete in the Eastern Conference next season. Utah Jazz Utah would've loved to keep Dybantsa in the area, but unfortunately, they couldn't win the lottery. Just know if there is a way Dybantsa is available at number two, they won't blink an eye and will for sure pick him. Predicting Dybantsa won't be available, expect them to keep the pick and either go with Darryn Peterson or Cameron Boozer. Most predict it will be Peterson with the Jazz's lack of guard depth, but Utah could go in a different direction by bringing Boozer into the lineup. There is a world where they could find a way to trade for the number one pick with the Wizards if they are desperate to get Dybantsa. Memphis Grizzlies The Grizzlies have an easy choice at three, just choose whichever guy falls to their pick between Boozer, Dybantsa and Peterson. Most expect Boozer to be available, and it would work perfectly for their current young roster. I don't think they trade this pick, as whoever they get can be a future star alongside Ja Morant. Boozer can be a quick replacement for Jackson Jrn. Chicago Bulls The city of Chicago is quite happy to jump into the top four for this draft, but the last time they had the fourth pick, it didn't go too well. This time, the team has a new person in charge of basketball operations, and the new guy has an eye for talent. The consensus fourth pick option is Caleb Wilson, and it is expected that they will go with him at the pick. Pairing Wilson with Giddey and Buzelis is a solid young core for Bulls fans to be excited about. Los Angeles Clippers/Indiana Pacers In what was one of the more talked-about storylines for the draft, the Clippers had a 50/50 chance to gain the Pacers' pick after the Zubac trade at the deadline. Pacers had it protected top four, and if it fell to fifth, the Clippers would get it, which as seen the pick fell to fifth, making the Pacers big losers after a rough year. Clippers gaining a top-five pick was big time for their future after trading Harden and Zubac at the deadline. There are a few guards Clippers could go with, but one well-suited alongside Kawhi and Garland would be Keaton Wagler from Illinois. A 6'6 guard that can shoot at a high rate would be a perfect fit for this squad. Brooklyn Nets Unfortunately for the Nets, the lottery didn't work out for them once again. Falling to the sixth pick in the lottery, they can still find a number-one guy at this point in the draft. There is a chance they could try to trade up in the draft and try to get into the top five, but I'm not sure if many teams are going to budge that's above them. Nets do have a lot of young guards on the roster, but an easy choice at this point would be Darius Acuff Jr. or Kingston Flemings. Nets have gone rogue in the past, so anyone could be on the radar, especially when they need a forward. Sacramento Kings It's a weird time in the Kings franchise with their current roster of players. They are trending towards a rebuild, but are still stuck with bad contracts and older players on the salary. Expect them to choose the best player available at this point and hope they can find their next young star to lead the franchise for the future. There are a few names among the radar, as mentioned before, Darius Acuff Jr. if available, could be Kingston Flemings or Mikel Brown Jr. Any of these options would be a good start for the Kings' future. Atlanta Hawks After trading their 13th pick last year, the Hawks secured an unprotected first from the Pelicans, which turned out to be the eighth pick in a more loaded draft. It was a promising year for the young Hawks, and they will look to add another young talent to the roster to pair with Jalen Johnson. There are many ways the Hawks could go; they either need a guard or a real big man to pair with Okongwu. Two options could be the guards, as mentioned previously or go with Michigan big man Aday Mara. Dallas Mavericks In 2025, the Dallas Mavericks were lucky enough to jump all the way up to the first pick to get the ability to draft future star Cooper Flagg. This year wasn't so lucky, but they still got a top 10 pick, being put at number nine. I hope the Dallas Mavericks will try to target Nate Ament to pair with another wing alongside Flagg for the future. They could also go with Aday Mara to pair a big man and defensive anchor with him. This pick could also be traded; they might try to move up if possible. Milwaukee Bucks A disastrous season for the Bucks, with star Giannis Antetokounmpo showing frustrations with the organisation and potentially seeking a trade this offseason. As they enter a rebuild era, the Bucks will look to find a diamond in the rough. They could go with a Nate Ament to pair with Ryan Rollis, which seems the best option for the upcoming year, but if they seem to keep Antetokounmpo, this pick could be traded right away. Golden State Warriors After failing to miss the playoffs in another Steph Curry season, the Warriors gained the 11th pick, but what they will do with it is the big question. Trading it is an option that wouldn't be surprising with how Curry doesn't have long left. If they do decide to keep it, they might go with a Yaxel Lendeborg, who is a more veteran type and ready to play now, instead of a more developmental type. Oklahoma City Thunder The reigning champions once again find another lottery pick from their trades. There is a lot of talk about trading this pick, but I think it depends on what happens at the end of the year. I would love them to trade up and try to get Nate Ament, but if not, Yaxel Lendeborg or Aday Mara, if available, try to focus on one of those three. They have the assets to trade around and do what they want. Miami Heat Miami will most likely keep this pick, and they should go with a wing player to pair with Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Kelel Ware. Dailyn Swain from Texas would be a perfect fit with them as a wing player. His ability in the ring and defensive ability is perfect for the Heat culture. Would love to see them go with this selection if available. Charlotte Hornets The Charlotte Hornets had a very good season with their young core. There are many ways they could go here; it is more the best available type or another wing. I would love them to add a big man if one finds well here. Chris Cenec could be an option if they want to take a shot on someone. If not, there are a few guards, such as Brayden Burries.
