The Western Conference Finals will see an unexpected match up in 2024, with the Minnesota Timberwolves taking home court advantage against the Dallas Mavericks.

In what could only be labelled a surprising turn of events, the heavily favoured Denver Nuggets were knocked out during the semi-finals, going down 4-3 to the Timberwolves.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder - who finished top seed in the west - fell short 4-2 against the Mavericks.

For Oklahoma, it's their first conference finals series since they came up short against the all-conquering Golden State Warriors in 2016,

That sets up a conference finals series few would have seen coming, while Minnesota have only ever played one conference finals series, coming back in 2004 as they came up short 4-2 against the Los Angeles Lakers coached then by Phil Jackson.
