RenaultF1 kicked off their second week of pre season testing with both drivers on duty at the Circuit de Catalonia on Tuesday.

Jolyon Palmer was the first out on track beh8nd the wheel of the RS 17track, but the Englishman's program was cut short after 15 laps due to a powertrain issue that the French based squad replaced as a caution.

"My morning was rather short before having to stop,” he explained. “It's not ideal, but it is far from the end of the world. We are always well positioned and I am confident for the season ahead. Obviously it would be nice to do more laps, you never want to lose track time. We still have three days of testing, so I am looking forward to increasing my number. "

In the afternoon session, teammate Nico Hulkenberg took over the driving duties to complete 58 laps reliably and recorded the seventh best time of the day with a 1'21''589.

"I had a satisfactory day and we were able to accomplish a busy schedule this afternoon,” he said. “Sometimes it was quite windy, you could feel it and this affects the steering. We have gained a better understanding of settings and tyres. We have many things to consider before resuming tomorrow. "
