By the time the first very wet day of practice for this weekend's Winton Supersprint came to a close, it was Nick Percat sitting at the top of the timesheets, a good second clear of second placed Scott McLaughlin, who was quickest in the opening practice session.

“It's a good result for everyone at BJR. Even though its only practice two, it's good for the team to get a reward like this and is a bit of a fist pump moment crossing the line in P1. It's hard to be at the top of the charts at any time, especially when you look at the guys from DJRTP and 888, they are pushing really hard,” Nick said.

"I don't take anything from the fact that we were a second in front of the other guys because if the forecast is right we're going to be another 10 seconds quicker tomorrow.” “The conditions were crazy for everyone out there today. The first session was action packed with people going off and I made contact with Scott Pye. I was 100 metres behind Scott going into turn one, I hit the brakes and both lock lights came on, I was a passenger.”

While the majority of the day was run in pouring rain, the clouds started to clear for the second and final practice session of the day and in the lfinal fine minutes, a dry line had formed and times started to tumble.

Top spot changed roughly ten times in the final few minutes that saw times improve by up to five seconds a lap. Three red flags also marred the 45 minutes session.

David Reynolds was third for Erebus Motorsport with Fabian Coulthard fourth. Cameron Waters James Courtney Michael Caruso, Jamie Whincup Tim Slade and Lee Holdsworth rounded out the top ten runners for the day.

Noticeably absent from the top ten was reigning series champion, Shane van Gisbergen, who had late contact with James Moffat.
