Brandon Knight is officially a Perth Wildcat.
The former eighth overall pick, who has played 451 NBA games and once averaged 19.6 points a season for the Phoenix Suns, has signed on to run the point for Perth heading into NBL27.
After chasing this exact fix for the better part of two years, the Wildcats have finally got it done.
Knight brings a decade of NBA experience across Detroit, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Houston, Cleveland and Dallas.
His last NBA minutes came with the Mavericks in 2022, and since then he has kept his game sharp overseas in Puerto Rico and Greece, most recently putting up 19 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists a game for Capitanes de Arecibo.
This is not the first time Perth has come calling either. Back in January, with the Wildcats managing injuries during their finals push, talks with Knight fell over and no deal eventuated. Eight months on, with the timing suiting both sides, they went back and got their man.
That persistence tells you how much Perth rates him. This is a club that has burned through options at the point guard spot for over a year now. An import signing that flopped inside five games.
A season impacting injury to their import and emerging young guard. A very public and ultimately unsuccessful pursuit of Patty Mills. Through all of that, Knight is the name Perth kept coming back to.
>He does not need to be explosive to make this work. He needs to be smart, in control, and able to get Perth into their offence when it matters. Everything about his decade in the league, and everything he has shown since, suggests he still is exactly that.
Perth finally has their guy. Now it is on Knight to prove the wait was worth it.
