Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo says he would be interested in a switch to NASCAR.

Red Bull's immediate future in Formula 1 is finally secure, meaning Ricciardo has a drive for next season. However, with the team's future in doubt for the past few months, Ricciardo admitted he was entertaining the idea of switching to NASCAR, should he not have a drive in F1 in 2016.

NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. tweeted last month that Riccardio was more than welcome to join him in NASCAR, with Red Bull's future still up in the air.

“If I am honest, I would love to take up his offer,” Ricciardo told Motorsport.

“But next year is probably not so realistic. If it is something I did, I would want to do it properly — and that would need a lot of time in the car.

“It is a different beast so I would need to be there testing and stuff. When people talk about the program, it would eat in to [F1]. I plan to have a long career in F1, but post-F1 that would be cool.”
