Despite finishing second to his title challenging teammate in both free practice sessions on Friday, championship leader Nico Rosberg was happy enough with the way the finale race weekend of 2016 played out.

The German driver was a mere two hundredths of a second behind Hamilton when all was said and done on Friday, and that was a after going wide at turn 14, and despite the changing conditions as the circuit descended into the slightly cooler night temperatures, he claims the car was working very well.

โ€œA decent start to the weekend. Straight away the car started off with a balance that was in the right area,โ€ he said. โ€œIt's always interesting going from hot conditions to cooler ones between the afternoon and evening sessions.โ€

โ€œAdapting to that and knowing what to expect can be a challenge but our car was working well in both conditions, on low and high fuel. Graining on the front tyres when they're cold is the main thing we need to get to grips with in preparation for the race.โ€
