It was reported yesterday that Sauber F1 team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn, has stepped down from the position she has held at the Hinwil based squad since 2010.
The reasons stated online by various sources claimed that the reasons behind the shock departure was that she could not see eye to eye with new bosses at Longbow Finance, who purchased the Hinwil based squad in 2016 in regard to the team's two drivers, with Longbow wanting Ericsson to be given preferential treatment over Pascal Wehrlien, something that Kaltenborn could not bring herself to agree to.
Paascal Picci, Chairman of the board at sauber Holding AG has vehemently denied these claims….
“The owners and board of Sauber Motorsport AG take strong exception to speculative and widespread media reports today that our race drivers have not been, and are not being, treated equally,” Picci said in a statement.
“This is not only patently untrue, it would be contrary to the team's absolute and longstanding commitment to fair competition. These reports, attributed to anonymous “sources”, are highly detrimental to both Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein as well as to the management and all staff of the Sauber F1 Team.”
However, Kaltenborn's departure from the team was neither confirmed nor denied.
