Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque says that the Western Sydney-Sydney FC derby is the biggest regular season sporting match of any football code in NSW.
The two sides face off this Saturday night at Sydney Football Stadium at 7.30pm and for the eighth time in the short three year history of the match, the stadium is expected to be sold out well before match day, with a crowd of over 40,000 expected.
"It's become a real highlight of the sporting calendar for NSW and Sydney in particular. There will be a full house again and the atmosphere generated in games is incredible. The whole week, you can feel it's a different game. The preparation, the media, everything that comes makes this exciting," Brosque said.
"I think it is [the biggest in Sydney]. If you look back at last year, the Wanderers weren't travelling so great and still three games were sold out. Irrespective of where teams are on the ladder, games are going to be sold out. In other codes both teams have to be doing well for it to even be considering a sell-out. I think it's one of the biggest games in the Australian sporting landscape."
The Sky Blues will head into the game as favourites, with one win and one draw from their opening two games, while the Wanderers are winless after the opening two rounds.
