The contenders for the EPL title

Just six days out from the opening day of the English Premier League season, we have a look at which teams can contend for this season's title.

Leicester City:

Last season's effort went down as one of the greatest title winning season's in history, although the Foxes will be up against it this campaign to defend their championship.

One of the standouts in last season's side was no nonsense midfielder N'Golo Kante, but the Frenchman was out the door in summer and headed to Chelsea.

City have signed Ahmed Musa from CSKA Moscow to strengthen their attacking stocks, but with the other big clubs in England making plenty of moves, the fairy tale out of Leicester may be coming to an end.

Arsenal:

After finishing second last season, the Gunners will be out to go one step further this year, but do they have the squad depth for that?

Granit Xhaka has been brought in but remains the only big signing Arsenal have made all summer, after failing to land a forward, a position they definitely need to strengthen.

Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck will both miss the remainder of 2016 through injury, and the squad will need some time to come together after a Euro 2016 interrupted pre-season for some key players.

There's no doubt Arsenal have the potential to challenge again, but both Manchester clubs look set to leapfrog Arsenal after disappointing seasons.

Tottenham:

The Spurs almost did the unthinkable last season, but somehow managed to not only fall short, but have Arsenal finish above them once again, extending their streak over Tottenham to 21 years.

Mauricio Pochettino's men finished third to sure up a Champions League place, and will be looking to build on their title push from last season.

Victor Wanyama has come in to sure up the midfield and Vincent Janssen will give the Spurs another dimension going forward.

There's no reason why last season's efforts should be seen as a one off, and Tottenham have the potential to make another title run this campaign.

Manchester City:

After a fourth placed finish last season, City's summer has put them in prime position for a deep title run this year.

Pep Guardiola has come in to steer the ship, and signings such as Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Leroy Sane will all have a big say on City's season.

If the squad is able to gel quickly and Guardiola puts his stamp on this side, then it looks as though City will be the team to beat come Christmas time.

Manchester United:

United have had the most impressive summer by far, and will be quietly confident heading into this season.

The 'Special One' is back in the Premier League, as Jose Mourinho joined Manchester after much speculation over the past few months.

Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic significantly strengthen each area of the park, and with Paul Pogba's deal all but assured, United has the talent to push their Manchester rivals all the way this season.

Liverpool:

After a mini-revival under Jurgen Klopp that saw the Reds make the Europa League final, this season bills as an exciting one for Liverpool fans.

Joel Matip, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum come in to a team that let plenty of squad players go over the summer, but the smaller sized squad is one that Klopp wants ahead of a season with no European football.

Liverpool fans will be optimistic with Klopp at the helm for his first full season, but a top four berth looms as a more likely goal for Liverpool.

Chelsea:

A 10th place finish for the 2014-15 champions was a very unexpected one, and the Blues join Liverpool in looking ahead to a season without European football.

Antonio Conte was appointed Chelsea's manager over the summer, and the signings of N'Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi are key additions.

While last season will be seen as a blimp on Chelsea's radar, the Blues will be looking to cement a top four finish first before setting their sights on the league trophy.
