The Most Improved Player award in the NBA is one of the fans' favourite awards that they give out. Lately, fans have been quite annoyed about who they have awarded this to due to but this season it seems like the award is wide open.

This article will go through who is currently in the hunt to win this amazing award.

Jalen Duren

Jalen Duren's leap in 2025 has actually been quite unbelievable, and I don't think many people would've predicted his insane jump.

Last year, Duren averaged 12 points per game along with 10 rebounds. This season, those averages have increased to 19.5 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.

His improvement on the offensive end, especially his self-creation, is the reason he has increased his performance this season, putting him in contention to win the award.

Deni Avdija

Deni Avdija was predicted as one who would be in the hunt for most improved after his performances at the end of last year, and to begin this year, he has not missed a beat.

Avdija has had a big leap in Portland this year; his averages last year had him at 17 points per game, seven rebounds and four assists. Now, to begin this year, he is averaging an insane 25.5 points per game with six rebounds and over five assists.

His leap has certainly put him in all-star talks this year, and the way her is playing, his winning this award wouldn't be a surprise.

Ryan Rollins

The Bucks' young guard has had a great breakout year so far. In his fourth season, he has finally seen some playing time and has proved to everyone why he deserves this extra time.

After averaging six points, two rebounds and two assists last season, his averages have improved to 18 points per game, four rebounds and six assists, which is an improvement all around.

As the new starting guard for the Bucks, he can keep this average up all season long, giving him a very strong case for the award.

Jalen Johnson

After missing most of last year with an injury, Jalen Johnson has come back even better than before. Since Trae Young went down with an injury this year, Johnson has taken the role as the number one guy, and he has not disappointed.

This year, he is now averaging 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists after averaging 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists last year. His high level of play has resulted in him being one of the more skilled players in the league.

It might be hard for him to win Most Improved, as he was already a great player, but he is still in the conversation.

Austin Reaves

The third star on the Lakers has started the season with some unbelievable play, especially on the offensive end.

His leap to becoming a potential all-star this year was quite unexpected. His averages last year were sitting at 20 points per game, along with five assists and four rebounds. Wheras this year it has improved to 28 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Reaves has been playing without star LeBron James, so his production is up compared to normal. With LeBron now back, it could hurt some of his averages.

Keyontae George

The third-year pro has had a major leap for the Utah Jazz so far, with his playmaking and shot creation being the biggest leap he has had.

After averaging 16 points and five assists last year, he is averaging 24 points and seven assists this year. The other factor is that he is doing this at a better efficiency level, and that's what has impressed people the most.
