Melbourne City coach John van't Schip has praised his team's mental strength after an impressive 4-2 win over Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium on Thursday night.
Just six days after City were embarrassed by Newcastle, leading 2-0 half time lead, only to be beaten 3-2, the Melbourne side found themselves in exactly the same position last night.
However, this time, City managed to hold strong and put last week's mental demons behind them, to finish with four goals, including a brace from Bruno Fornaroli.
''We had a tough week, it's not nice going ahead 2-0 and playing good football and then to lose the game. We had some talks, we showed some things, we changed some things, and we learned some things. Again we had a 2-0 lead at half-time, but this time we came out for the win.''
''This was a massive game for us, it was important, after last week the way we lost. This was important for the group mentally to get over that. We all know that it's a very hard game and difficult to get a result here.
''Adelaide remains a good team, this evening was an open game and you know that if you concede a quick goal after half-time, then a game can change.
''We were good to make the third one, that was very important. We looked dangerous every time we went forward as well. They took more risks, but the more dangerous chances we had them."
City now move into fifth spot on the table, with seven points from five games, while Adelaide, still winless, sit last.
