Shane van Gisbergen and Jonathon Webb have dominated the opening leg of V8 Supercars' Gold Coast 600.

The Tekno Autosports Commodore was the class of the field, surviving a late-race restart to beat David Reynolds/Dean Canto home by 1.6 seconds, with Craig Lowndes and Steven Richards rounding out the podium.

Lowndes slashed almost 100 points off his championship deficit to Mark Winterbottom after the title leader was released into the path of another car on a pit stop, the contact breaking the car's right front suspension. He finished 13 laps down in 24th.
