After making his Test debut for Australia against India earlier this summer, Beau Webster has joined the Hobart Hurricanes for BBL|15.

The Tasmania native returns to his hometown, rejoining the Hurricanes for the first time since BBL|06, following their grand final victory on Monday.

โ€œI am pumped to return to Hobart next summer for the BBL and get the opportunity to play on a packed Ninja Stadium in front of our fans, my friends and family,โ€ said Webster in a statement.

โ€œVaughnay and Nelly have got the group playing a really good brand of cricket, and to see them win a championship makes me hungry to bring another one to โ€˜Canes fans next season!โ€

Based in Melbourne since 2017 - first with the Renegades and then the Stars - Webster has scored over 250 runs in two of his last four seasons, including an impressive 425 runs for the Renegades in BBL|09.

Webster is currently representing the national team in the first Test against Sri Lanka, where he was dismissed for 23 in his first innings on Thursday.

In his Sydney Test debut earlier this month, the 31-year-old delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 57 in his first innings and 39 not out in the second.

This was one of several major signings during the inaugural free agency period, with top Perth Scorchers wicket-taker Jason Behrendorff joining the Melbourne Renegades on Tuesday.
