The NFL season has only seven weeks left, and the playoff picture is starting to take shape. This article will examine which teams are likely to make the playoffs, are still in the hunt, or need a miracle to happen.
This article will go through all of the NFC teams' chances of making the playoffs.
About to clinch -
Los Angeles Rams. The Rams currently sit at 8-2 at the top of the NFC. Their division is good with the 49ers and Seahawks on their tail. Matthew Stafford is in MVP contention talks and has basically cemented the Rams into the playoffs right now.
Philadelphia Eagles. The reigning Super Bowl champions are cruising along very nicely with an 8-2 record, which has them tied with the Rams at the top of the conference. Eagles are no doubt going to make the playoffs and could be back-to-back champions.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers currently have a high chance of making the playoffs by winning their division. They are predicted to beat our Carolina to win the division, but if they don't, it could get hard to make the wildcard.
Seattle Seawhawks. New quarterback Sam Darnold has taken the Seahawks to a great record of 7-3 so far. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been in contention for offensive player of the year as well. Seawhawks sit second in a competitive division, but with their record, they should at least make the wildcard.
In the hunt -
Detroit Lions. They currently are second in the division with a 6-4 record, just behind the Bears. The Lions are predicted to win the division still, but with their current record, they aren't guaranteed to make the playoffs. They should still make a wildcard if not.
Chicago Bears. In an unbelievable season so far, the Bears have bounced back with new coach Ben Johnson, who has them sitting at 7-3. They currently sit at the top of their division, but the Lions and Packers are right on their tail.
Green Bay Packers. The Packers currently sit at 6-3-1, but their wins have not been very convincing. The Packers are still expected to be a great team, but if they fail to win their divisional games, it will be hard to see them overtake the Lions and Bears in the division. Wildcard is still on the table if they can't win the division.
San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are starting to bank in wins after their injury-riddled start. They currently sit at 7-4, which is third in their division, which is very competitive. The Niners can still sneak into the wildcard if not.
Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are still a slight chance, but it is unlikely that they will reach the playoffs. If they can potentially win the division, that would be their only chance because the wildcard will be hard to sneak into.
Miracle to happen -
The Vikings, Cowboys, Cardinals, Falcons, Commanders, Saints and Giants will all need a miracle to make the playoffs. You can basically rule out all of these teams except the Vikings and the Cowboys.
