A young Australian collector has pulled a baseball card that could potentially be worth more than A$100,000.
It was revealed this week that the one-of-one 2026 Bowman Chrome Shohei Ohtani Base SuperFractor had been pulled by a young collector known only as "Jack" on Queensland's Gold Coast.
The remarkable find is card #100 in the 2026 Bowman Chrome base set and features the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar at the plate.
Most importantly, the gold-bordered SuperFractor is a true 1-of-1 - meaning no other copy of the card exists.
Just how rare is the Ohtani card?
Released earlier this month, 2026 Bowman Chrome contains a 100-card base set featuring established MLB stars and rookies, alongside its highly sought-after prospect checklist. Ohtani occupies the final position in the base set at number 100.
Each base card has a series of increasingly scarce parallels, ranging from Refractors numbered to /499 through Gold /50, Orange /25, Black /10, and Red /5.
At the very top of the rainbow sits the SuperFractor: numbered 1/1.
The published odds put a base SuperFractor at approximately one in every 9,641 Hobby packs. That figure covers all base SuperFractors rather than Ohtani specifically - and there is only one SuperFractor of his card in the series.
How much is the Shohei Ohtani SuperFractor worth?
Putting an exact price on a one-of-one card is impossible until somebody actually buys it, but recent Ohtani sales provide some indication of what the Australian collector may now be holding.
A 2026 Bowman Chrome Final Draft Ohtani SuperFractor 1/1, graded PSA 10, sold through Fanatics Collect in June for US$75,000 - approximately A$105,000 - after attracting 44 bids.
Ohtani's market can climb substantially higher for particularly desirable cards.
A PSA 9 graded copy of his 2026 Bowman Anime SuperFractor 1/1 sold in August for an extraordinary US$432,000, although the highly sought-after Anime insert is not a direct comparison with the newly pulled base card.
That makes a six-figure Australian-dollar valuation entirely possible for the Gold Coast find, even more so if the card grades strongly and is ultimately offered through one of the major US auction houses.
A huge Australian pull
The card was pulled at Sjay2K Trading Cards, which operates stores in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast and has been part of the Australian sports-card hobby for almost a decade. The store announced the pull on its Instagram, tagging the card company, Topps, who went on to announce the find on it's own social media.

The retailer describes itself as specialising across basketball, baseball, football, and other trading cards.
Ohtani remains king of the hobby
Ohtani's extraordinary combination of both hitting and pitching success has made the Dodgers superstar one of the most coveted modern athletes in the trading-card market.
And while Topps produces a number of Ohtani one-of-one cards across different products and insert sets each year, this particular card carries an important distinction for collectors: it is the SuperFractor of Ohtani's regular 2026 Bowman Chrome base card.
There are many different Ohtani 1/1s.
But there is only one Bowman Chrome Shohei Ohtani Base SuperFractor from 2026.
And, extraordinarily, it has ended up in the hands of a young collector on the Gold Coast.
