As the UEFA Champions League (UCL) reaches the halfway point of the league phase, Matchday 4 has produced another week of breathtaking action.

European giants are starting to pull away as some are just beginning to come into play. Here are five of the biggest talking points from this week's fixtures.

Manchester United's stunning comeback against Roma

Was that the moment that kick-starts United's season? In what has been a horrible few weeks for Michael Carrick and Manchester United, Wednesday's 3-2 comeback win over AS Roma was nothing short of incredible.

Goals from Roma's Mattias Soulè and Donyell Malen saw United down 2-0 in just 18 minutes, with boos echoing around the Old Trafford crowd and Carrick's job seemingly at breaking point.

However, a much-improved start to the second half from the hosts handed United a lifeline through a retaken penalty from Bruno Fernandes. Matheus Cunha capitalised on a mistake from Roma defender Leonardo Balerdi to make it 2-2 in the 83rd minute, and just three minutes later the Brazilian squeezed a shot through the near post to complete a remarkable comeback.

With a somewhat favourable run of games ahead, this victory could be the start of a much-needed resurgence for Michael Carrick and his players.

Real Madrid leave it late in Athens

Another week, another comeback victory for José Mourinho and Real Madrid. The UCL record holders had to come from behind twice to squeeze past Greek side AEK Athens.

AEK opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Aboubakary Koita, before Englishman Jude Bellingham levelled for Madrid with a lovely finish in the 35th minute.

Madrid came out for the second half much stronger; however, it was AEK who shockingly took the lead 2-1 with just 15 minutes to go, setting up a potential major upset.

Inevitably, it was Kylian Mbappè who tied the game for Madrid just three minutes later, before a last-minute rocket in the 92nd from captain Federico Valverde broke the hearts of AEK players and fans.

Sitting second on the UCL table, only on goal difference to PSG, Real Madrid's resilience once again proved they are one of the favourites to lift the 26/27 Champions League trophy.

Como set UCL record after incredible win

Como's ridiculous 9-1 win over RC Lens has made the Italian club the first in Champions League history to score nine goals away from home. The win is also the joint-highest margin of victory (eight goals) in the competition's history and ties them with German giants Bayern Munich as the only two teams to ever score nine goals in a single UCL game.

A hat-trick from Greek striker Anastasios Douvikas now makes him the top scorer in the league phase so far with six goals. Meanwhile, wonderkid Nico Paz also grabbed one goal and provided two assists, launching the Argentine to lead the competition with the most combined goals and assists (eight).

The Italian side's outstanding victory propels them to 4th on the league table, with their sights set on automatic qualification for the knockout rounds. A quite remarkable story from coach Cesc Fabregas and his core of young and exciting talent.

Fenerbahçe shock Liverpool in Türkiye

Liverpool's perfect start to the 26/27 UCL campaign has come to an end after a 3-2 loss to Fenerbahçe.

Andoni Iraola rested three of his four star attackers, consisting of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, and Cody Gakpo, opting for an inexperienced front three that struggled to make an impact in Istanbul. Despite promising performances from Trey Nyoni and Isak off the bench, it wasn't enough for Liverpool to maintain their unbeaten start.

The Turkish side fielded a team with plenty of former Premier League stars, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mason Greenwood, and N'Golo Kanté helping cap off a much-needed win following their 6-0 loss to Aston Villa in Matchday 3.

Liverpool now drop to 8th on the table while Fenerbahçe move up to 19th, one place behind their crosstown rivals Galatasaray.

PSG can't stop scoring

Back-to-back UCL holders Paris Saint-Germain continued their perfect start in the Champions League this season with a 6-0 thumping over Villarreal in Spain.

The European champions have now won ten games in a row in all competitions, finding the back of the net a staggering 36 times in that span.

Despite missing the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nuno Mendes through injury, slowing down the holders is looking to be an impossible task for any opponent right now.
