On day two of testing for the upcoming Indianapolis 500, Fernando Alonso was thrown in with the big boys and after a total of 117 laps, the most of any driver taking part in the session, ended the day 24th fastest overall, his top speed of 221.029 mp/h putting his third fastest of the six Andretti Autosport drivers.
According to reports, Alonso, who is buys learning the finer details of racing in the Indycar series this week, had his first experience of racing ‘in the tow' of other drivers, mainly from other drivers in his team, however he was upt there dicing with the best of them, such as Will Power and James Hinchcliffe.
Power was the quickest of all, putting in his best time on his 47th lap to record a top speed of 224.65 mp/h.
