Australian Boomer Duop Reath has signed with the Phoenix Suns for the 2026-27 season following Mark Williams being sidelined for several months due to a shoulder injury.
According to ESPN, the Suns signed Reath to add court depth, given his age and ability. He will be on a one-year, veteran minimum training camp contract.
The Suns were reportedly interested in both Reath and veteran Bismack Biyombo, but eventually landed on Reath.
Reath will leave the Portland Trail Blazers to play alongside superstars such as Devin Booker and Jalen Green at Pheonix.
Reath appeared in 146 games for Portland, averaging 13 minutes and 6.2 points a game. A short trade to the Atlanta Hawks saw the centre waived within just five days, making him a free agent.
Reath is expected to play a pivotal role for the Australian Boomers heading into both the 2027 FIBA World Cup and the 2028 LA Olympic Games. He joins a growing list of Australians in the NBA, including Chicago Bulls' Josh Giddey, Atlanta Hawks star Dyson Daniels and Matisse Thybulle at the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Phoenix Suns training camp commences at the back end of this month, making Reath one of the final roster signings for the team.
