Mobil 1 HSV driver James Courtney will be back behind the wheel of the car that saw him take the victory in the Gold Coast 500 almost two years ago, Chassis 20, for what is predicted to be a very wet and wild race weekend at the Winton Raceway.
Heavy rain has been predicted for both today and tomorrow with showers continuing on Sunday, however after all their recent difficulties, the team will be taking a ‘back to basics' approach as they attempt to pull themselves up out of the recent problems that have plagued Courtney at almost every event of 2017.
“It will be great to get back on track this weekend, getting back to racing,” said Mathew Nilsson, the team's acting Manager. “For us, it's a back to basics approach. We must do the basics right, and do them well. We know this isn't going to be an overnight fix, but it's important for us to move forward, and start making progression up the field with some strong race results.”
“We have complete faith in the team we have here, and we know they are going to give everything they have to regain that speed. Everyone is certainly in this together with the same goals in mind. In typical Winton fashion, it's going to be wet and cold, which will make for an interesting, and unpredictable weekend of racing.”
Saturday's race will be 120km, or 40 laps, with a 67 lap, 200km race on Sunday. All racing will once again be done on the super soft Dunlop tyre.
