Newcastle veteran David Carney is urging the Jets to splash some cash this transfer window to try to resurrect thier A-League season.

The Jets currently sit eighth on the A-League table with just three wins from 13 games, despite a positive start to the season, where they were on top of the ladder after round four.

“There's no question we need players, we need two or three more quality players just to get us to that next level,” Carney said.

“It's hard, especially if we do get a few injuries. But I still think if we our best 11 can beat anyone but hopefully we can get a few more quality players into the team.

“We don't have the quality of other teams so we can't really have off days and expect to get results."

Newcastle face Sydney FC at Hunter Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
